I seem to not have an "I'm a little drunk" icon. But I guess that's okay since I'm rarely like this.
So I intend to do a video post about the Feast (only later, since a half-drunk Feast video post would no doubt be quite entertaining, just... no), but since I don't want to get into the sermon incident on a video post, I'll just do it here. (And how will this work out with the drunkenness? I guess we'll find out, won't we?)
So it's like the fourth day of the Feast... wait.
Okay, the Feast, short of the Feast of Tabernacles, is a holiday in the Bible, Biblically people are supposed to live in a home not their own for seven days to commemorate... something about wandering in the wilderness for forty years, I don't remember right off. So the churches that split off from Worldwide keep the Feast of Tabernacles in lots of different locations, you can just pick one and go, and this makes no sense whatsoever and I'm not retyping it. But we go to church every day during the Feast, and it's awesome. The Feast, not necessarily going to church every day. WHATEVER.
Anyway. We go and expect literally nothing from the sermons 'cause. And there was a sermon on like the first or second day that was just absurd, talking about how to have a good heart, only it's bullshit. Well, the fourth day, the guy's talking about how theoretically the kingdom of God will be, only he's making fun of it and trivializing it (and I'm getting pissed because this is srs business... not that jokes can't be made about it, but trivializing it? No bueno). And kissing the asses of every guy that's given a sermon so far. Not just subtly. Outward kissing ass. And don't get me wrong, the sermon about having a good heart wasn't the only boring bland pointless sermon given - they ALL were. So the asskissing is annoying.
I'm getting more pissed by the minute. Not only at the asskissing - lots of sermons have that, I'm sort of used to it. But the trivialization of something that's serious. Both together? I'm pissed. Seriously thinking about pulling a Kenny. (Kenny said during a sermon at something he found objectionable, "Well that's just bullshit." Conversational tone, during the sermon.)
And then the guy says something about King David (the King David) giving props to the guy who gave the sermon about having a good heart. "Oh hey bro, that was a great sermon."
And that was it. I grabbed my purse and stalked out. Didn't bother to disguise how pissed off I looked. Sat just far away enough from the room to not have to hear any more of the sermon, but close enough to hear when it would be over.
An overreaction? Maybe. Again though, there are things I don't mind being made fun of, even serious things... but our final destiny? Don't freaking make light of it. Don't make a big joke out of it like it's stupid and pointless and retarded. "Huh huh the last ketchup bottle ever made is on display in a museum now, huh huh lawl".
